Director DDT

Filmmaker

Daniel da Trindade, popularly known as Director DDT, is a filmmaker and visual storyteller whose work moves between narrative film, documentary, and music video. His films explore atmosphere, memory, and the quiet tensions that shape human experience.

Working from Malawi, he has collaborated with artists, cultural institutions, and organisations to create cinematic stories that resonate across different audiences and contexts.

His work has screened at international festivals, including the 2021, 2022, and 2024 Euro Film Festival and the 2025 Poetry Africa Film Festival.

His body of work includes short films such as The City Cradled in Mist and Memory and The Entomologist, documentary projects including Joy of the Arts and A Child’s Dream, and music videos for artists including Luzio, Chmba, and Blasto.

Daniel approaches filmmaking as a process of careful observation and deliberate construction. Each project is shaped through mood, rhythm, and visual restraint, allowing story and atmosphere to unfold naturally within the frame.

He is currently developing new narrative and documentary projects while collaborating with artists and organisations across Africa and beyond.
